Vaisakhi Festival at Sandown Park Race Course, Melbourne.
The Australian Punjabi Association in Melbourne celebrated Vaisakhi at the Sandown Racecourse on the 1st April 2012.

Although the event started off slowly, the Punjabi and other communities soon grew in numbers and it was well attended.
The program commenced with a Gatka in the open grounds followed by Kabadi. In the Racecourse auditorium there were speeches by VIPS, Bhangra, Gidda, Sangeet, and traditional dances.

Below, a few photos from the Festival, taken in the afternoon of the final day. Got to get in early next year.
There were stalls catering to most of the Spanish and Latin foods like – Auticucho, Salchipapa,Papa Relena, Ajide Gallina, Papa HuanCaina, Cevi Che, Coxhina, Brazilian Churracaria, Acai,Churros, Pupusas, Horchata,Cebada, Spanish Paella, Emplanadas and a lot of other specialities. To taste all of these a two day visit to the Festival is recommended.
Besides the exquisite the food there was music and dance on two stages, stalls of handmade jewelry, clothes, bags, bangles and everything you can imagine that is associated with the Latin countries.
